Should Homosexuals Get Married

The question of whether homosexuals should receive all the rights and benefits of marriage is an unequivocal, No. The reason for this response is The Bible does not support same sex marriage.

There are no exceptions noted to the contrary in The Bible. The major job of any Christian, according to The Bible, is to be obedient. Rights and benefits are not ours to give to the homosexual or any other person; this ability to receive any good thing from God, comes from God. Blessings and good things however, are contingent upon obedience to The Word of God, period.

The homosexual does not fit the criteria for the institution of marriage, as outlined in the Bible. For the most part, we as people recognize the criteria or guidelines for most things we engage in, before we expect that we can qualify for the benefits.

Going to the Source of Marriage

The homosexual does not fit the guidelines in The Word; therefore, they cannot call their union-marriage. Look at Romans 1:24-28, which reads as follows: "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever, Amen.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are convenient;"

Rights and Benefits of Marriage

Clearly, homosexuals are not entitled to the rights and benefits of marriage from a Biblical standpoint. The Bible says they are given over to a "reprobate" mind. The rights and benefits they must be talking about are those given to heterosexual married couples by the government and society.

Maybe the homosexual can have a designation for their relationship called by something other than marriage and get rights and benefits similar. God does not reward disobedience to His Word. God created this institution of marriage, not man. Rights and benefits for a homosexual union are simply not there to be garnered. It is sacrilegious for them to pervert The Word in wanting to claim rights and benefits for an act of disobedience.
